Peer Mentoring Project
The Peer Mentors are here to assist young adults to find the right path and enjoy life while meeting some great people along the way. So take a second to ask your self these questions:
- Do you need more resources to understand to try to navigate the system?
- Do you wish you had someone who has been there to show you the way and help you make better choices?
- Do you want to meet new people, try new things and connect with young adults just like you doing cool activities like hiking, web design, learning to rap, horseback riding, poetry, dancing, singing, going to movies, painting?
- Do you want to go back to school, but you are not sure where or how to start?
- Do you want to start working or begin thinking about a career?
- Do you want to learn the skills that would help you life more independently, like cooking good food that doesn't cost a lot and is healthy? Learning to budget or use credit cards responsibly?
So if you answered yes to any of these questions. Give us a call, join us for an activity, meet some new people and we will link you to some great and useful resources.
We are available to all young adults in the metro west area and hope to be helpful to all who come our way.

Dear YAVP/Peer Mentoring,
I appreciate all the effort, work and energy for the events you invited us to. because of you guys I was asked to step out of my comfort zone with social interactions. I owe you a lot for the skills I have. Thank you for everything!!
The first time I met YAVP was way back when I was in CIP! for as long as I can remember they have been soooo kind and nice to me and I am so thankful!
Thank you so much : )
Part of the reason I'm at North Crossing is due to not liking change and not being open to new places and social situations. But you guys have definitely helped me get over that fear. By suggesting that I and everyone at NC participate in things such as Blue Man Group, spring dance and Canobie Lake Park. You are inspirations to people who have struggled. Thank you so much for everything.
Most of my life I have struggled with socializing and finding ways to break the ice. However, thanks to you YAVP, I have had the privilege of getting to break the ice and get to know a group of wonderful, caring and helpful individuals. In you taking the time to meet and reach out to my program, I was able to be part of an experience I will remember and that has changed my life for the better!!
I really appreciated all the things you guys did for me while I was at North Crossing and CIP. I had a lot of fun at Canobie Lake Park and socials. You guys helped me learn some valuable skills.
Coming to YAVP has shown me that I can be successful, even having gone through struggles. I have learned how to be confident and assertive in social situations. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out and thank you for putting so much effort and time into putting together activities for us.
Testimonials From Parents
We are very pleased with the YAVP Program and staff and just wanted to thank you for all the good and positive influence you had with our son over the past year and a half. He has shown great improvement in his social and working skills. Also, the age group from 18 to 25 years old was exactly what he needed at this time of his recovery.
The YAVP program offered our son the opportunity of working on programs like Meals on Wheels for the elderly and part time work within a short period of time of joining the program. Having a place to go everyday really helped him to have a routine which he needed
Your program made a big difference in his on our lives as parents. It took a lot of the pressure off our shoulders for which we are very thankful. Thanks again for filling a need during this transition period of his life

What a great event last night (the documentary premier). Congratulations. **** was glad he went and had a great time. I was amazed when we were together in the food line and he said :I'm going to say hello to some people:, and off he went. I saw him talking to one person after the other and looking very happy. That was really a first for me to see him initiate social interactions like that. It was great!!! I'm so very grateful for what you and the other people at the YAVP program have done for him and are continuing to do for him and others in his situation.
I love the program! My son has improved socially, he is more responsible and more focused. He has goals and feels better about himself.
